Atmospheric abstract  textured coastal landscape painting. 

This moody work is inspired by those craggy winter days when the air is cold and the sun briefly breaks through heavy grey cloud. The light casts a luminous gold glow across the sea, transforming the scene and lifting the spirit. 

The painting has an ambiguity to it - it could be land or sea in the distance.

Rich texture and subtle contrasts capture the rawness of winter alongside its quiet beauty, offering a sense of warmth and hope within the cooler tones. It’s a painting that brings depth, atmosphere and a gentle reminder of light returning — even on the darkest days. The oil paints have mixed sparkling pigments, for example the glowing redder tone and the silver sheens. This makes the painting come alive with a quite magic. The surface is scratched to reveal gold layers underneath that shine in the light.
